New York Times: they are a dream team of forward-leaning hard-bop heavyweight Jazz Masters with a soulful swagger that could shred burlap.

NPR: The Cookers form a summit of swinging road warriors who are simply one of the most burning and hardest-hitting bands on the scene. These guys are all giants... In The Cookers they have combined their incredible collective legacy of composition and experience.

Los Angeles Times: The Cookers have the rich pallet of a big band with an Ornette-inspired jaggedness that drives and cooks like a small one.

JazzTimes: This band smokes! The mighty seven wield instruments like sonic weapons as they stir up a fiery jazz creating a turbulent energy. They were right there when Coltrane was happening and they are still creating groundbreaking jazz.

Our good fortune is... the magnificent seven continue to ride.

Here’s to The Cookers!

The performance of The Cookers presented in collaboration with  The Ebony Repertory Theatre and The Jazz Bakery Performance Space is supported by Chamber Music America’s Presenter Consortium for Jazz program, funded through the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
