Panel Discussion at 7:45 PM “The next Cuban revolution: How New Sounds from Cuba Will Influence Jazz in LA?” with panelists Paquito D'Rivera, Danilo Lozano and Brick Wahl (moderator)

Paquito D’Rivera (alto saxophonist and clarinetist) defies categorization. The National Endowment for the Arts affirms "He has become the consummate multinational ambassador, creating and promoting a cross-culture of music that moves effortlessly among jazz, Latin, and Mozart."

This is The Jazz Bakery’s first opportunity to welcome Paquito as part of our NEA Jazz Masters series. We are thrilled to present him in duo format with longtime pianist Alex Brown. To quote D’Rivera: “I know to seek and (find) where there is Gold; that is why I chose to produce Alex’s stunning debut CD on Paquito Records.

D’Rivera is the recipient of the NEA Jazz Masters Award, the National Medal of the Arts, the Living Jazz Legend Award from the Kennedy Center ...and numerous commissions including compositions for Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Library of Congress.

Paquito D’Rivera is warmly embraced by jazz aficionados and it is safe to say that he is indeed a “master! The Jazz Bakery is privileged to host him
