Paul Cornish is a Los Angeles-based pianist and composer who has performed around the world with some of today's most prominent artists across various genres, such as Joshua Redman, KNOWER, Snoh Aalegra, HAIM, Kanye West, and Terrace Martin, with whom he composed music for the 2024 Grammy-nominated EP by legendary singer-songwriter, James Fauntleroy, “NOVA.” Hailing from Houston, Texas where he attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), known for producing the likes of Robert Glasper, Jason Moran, Chris Dave, and many others, Cornish went on to be one of seven jazz prodigies worldwide selected to be awarded a full fellowship to attend the esteemed Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz at UCLA. Cornish was recently one of three finalists in the 2023 Herbie Hancock International Jazz Piano Competition, and a finalist in American Pianists Association’s Jazz Competition.
Jermaine Paul is a performing bassist, educator, producer and composer from Compton, CA. He spent his early development learning Violin, Cello, and Voice before finding the double bass in primary school under the tutelage of Harvey Estrada. Enrolling in California State University Northridge as a Jazz Studies major under the tutelage of Gary Pratt, many opportunities began to arise as a rising professional bassist including playing, touring and recording with the likes of with MC Hammer, Macy Gray, Barbara Morrison, Lido, ?Teo¿, Jordan Ward, Jaden Smith, Munyongo Jackson, Redveil, Julius Rodriguez, Dianne Reeves, Carmen Lundy and Gerald Clayton.
Jonathan Pinson, an American drummer renowned for his versatility and daring approach, began his musical journey at the tender age of two, surrounded by the melodies of his mother's choir. His formal training in music commenced at six with piano lessons, quickly followed by a transition to the drum set at the Colburn School of Performing Arts. Under the tutelage of Billy Higgins at The World Stage, Jonathan honed his skills, and by high school, he was already performing professionally in various jazz clubs throughout Los Angeles. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Berklee College of Music, Jonathan was selected as one of seven musicians for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA, where he earned his Master of Music. Jonathan's bold and empathic musicality has since made him a highly sought-after drummer in the music industry. He has collaborated with a plethora of renowned artists, including Kamasi Washington, Seal, Braxton Cook, Moses Sumney, Marquis Hill, Terrace Martin, Gerald Clayton, Kiefer, Mark Turner, Gilad Hekselman, Christian Kuria, and Ben Williams. Aside from his performance career, Jonathan leads "Boom Clap," a project that reflects his aspiration to bring joy and healing through storytelling in music.
Together, this Trio presents a truly unique, collaborative sound built on their wealth and breadth of collective experience along with years of friendship to present a compassionate, yet daring, sound experience that aspires to present music in an honest way, from a pure place, and poised for the moment.
