Singer / songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón is celebrated as one of music's most distinctive and searching voices. Raul is heralded by the New York Times as... "a one-man band who turns a guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus!" The New Mexico native, blind since birth, has lived a life devoted to shattering stereotypes. Midón's many projects include collaborations with Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Richard Bona and the soundtrack to Spike Lee's “She Hate Me.”
Attuned listeners may hear the inspirations of Donny Hathaway and Richie Havens in Raul's work, as well as Sting and Paul Simon. But... Midón's questing musicality makes him, as the Huffington Post put it, "a free man beyond category... his unbelievable chops and vibrant stage presence are a joy-filled experience.”
People magazine called Midón "an eclectic adventurist"... I call him “one of the most thrilling musical discoveries I’ve made in many years. I’m sorry I came a bit late to the party, but I strongly advise all of you who have not yet had my good fortune to hurry up and tune in to the gift that is... Raul Midón ! —Ruth Price.
