The Jazz Bakery had a full house for Regina Carter's Southern Comfort Quintet Saturday night April 19th at Zipper Hall. Regina has been exploring the music her father might have listened to as a child in the south via field recordings from the early part of the twentieth century. She has used these recordings as starting points for arrangements that are rich and varied in texture and overflowing with emotion. Her set was warmly received and we look forward to her next visit through town. Thanks to Greg Dahl for these photos.
